Boxycharm Subscription Box Review - April 2015

This month's box is appropriately named "April Bloom." Three out of the five items in the box were revealed through spoilers on Boxycharm's social channels. Although I like to be surprised, sometimes it's hard not to take a peek. I find that Boxycharm always does a good job with curation and their boxes also has high retail value.

Boxycharm April 2015 Detail Card

The box comes with a card detailing all of the items and instructions on how to use them.

Boxycharm April 2015 Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette

Product: Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette
Retail Value: $39.95 (Full Size)

I am most excited about the Coastal Scents palette since I just tossed my 50-color Sephora palette that I've had for way too long. I love the neutrals and pinks in this palette since they are the exact shades I normally use. Although the retail price is $39.95, it was on sale on Coastal Scents for $19.99, and is also available on Amazon for around the same price. Either way, I still got my money's worth since I paid $21 for this box.

Boxycharm April 2015 OFRA Illuminating Blush Stripes

Product: OFRA Illuminating Blush Stripes
Retail Value: $35.00 (Full Size)

OFRA has three of these blush stripes: Illuminating, Coral and Terracotta. Since the card specified Illuminating, I assume everyone received the same version. According to the manufacturer's site, the blush stripe also doubles as a four-colored eye shadow powder. The second option works well for me since I don't use blush very often.

Boxycharm April 2015 Vincent Longo Duo Eye Pencil

Product: Vincent Longo Duo Eye Pencil
Retail Value: $26.00 (Full Size)

I received this eye pencil in Brown Orofila and Golden Moss (i.e. topaz brown and golden olive green). The card does not specify a color, so there may be variations in the boxes. All of the Duo Eye Pencils feature two complimentary shades. You use the darker shade along outer lash line to define and shape eyes, and apply the lighter shade to inner corners for eyes for wide-open look.

Boxycharm April 2015 Coolway Smoothing Lotion

Product: Coolway Smoothing Lotion
Retail Value: $24.95 (Full Size)

The Coolway Smoothing Lotion is used to smooth and control unruly hair. It has a pretty strong sweet scent, but much less concentrated after application. The lotion can be used on damp or dry hair.

Boxycharm April 2015 Harvey Prince Mini Roller Fragrance

Product: Harvey Prince Mini Roller Fragrance (8.8 ml)
Retail Value: $21.00

I'm not a fan of perfume samples, so I'm glad Boxycharm included a mini roller instead of the usual tiny vials. Harvey Prince seems to be a box favorite lately. I think I have three different perfumes samples from them. This mini roller is their Signature scent, which has a mix of citrus and floral notes.

ProductsRetail Value
Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette (Full Size) $39.95
OFRA Illuminating Blush Stripes (Full Size) $35.00
Vincent Longo Duo Eye Pencil (Full Size) $26.00
Coolway Smoothing Lotion (Full Size) $24.95
Harvey Prince Mini Roller Fragrance (8.8 ml) $21.00
Total $146.90

Final Thoughts: The total retail value of all the products is $146.90. Even if the Coastal Scents palette is on sale for $20, the box value is still five times more than what I paid for. Boxycharm continues to impress me with their monthly boxes. There's always a good mixture of items I can use, and would want to use. I don't know how they do it every time! I've said this before, but if you are looking for a beauty subscription with good products and value, I definitely recommend Boxycharm.
