Ipsy Glam Bag Review - June 2015

The June Ipsy Glam Bag collection is called "Swim into Beauty", which is appropriately named for the summer season. I took a sneak peek of the contents, so I already knew what I was receiving before my package arrived. It's really hard not to look because I just get so darn curious, especially when Ipsy sends out an email that pretty much screams "go see the bag".

Boxometry ipsy June 2015 Review - Glam Bag

I like this month's glam bag. It's black with the Ipsy logos embossed on it. The zipper is bright reddish orange so the color really pops against the black background.

Here's a closer look at the zipper and inside.

Boxometry ipsy June 2015 Review - Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner

Product: Dr. Brandt® Skincare Pores No More® Vacuum Cleaner (0.25 oz)
Retail Value: $11.25

Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner is a blackhead extractor mask. You only need to apply a thin layer for 5-10 minutes on problem areas, so this 0.25 oz sample will get more than one use. I actually received one in my Birchbox mystery pack, but haven't needed to use it yet.

Boxometry ipsy June 2015 Review - J. Cat Beauty Liptitude Hydrating Lip Stain

Product: J. Cat Beauty Liptitude Hydrating Lip Stain
Retail Value: $5.99 (Full Size)

The color I received is called Blow Your Mind (LLS115). Subscribers will receive either the same one or Hikilicious. Although I am happy that it's full-size, the color is too intense and doesn't work that well for me. I do like the formula though because it has good pigmentation with a matte finish, and isn't sticky at all!

Boxometry ipsy June 2015 Review - Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer

Product: Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer (0.25 oz)
Retail Value: $8.00

This primer is used after moisturizer but before foundation. You can use it with or without foundation. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines or pores for that photo finish look. I like that the formula is light and smooth. It goes on well and does what it says. I may need a full-size one when I am done with it.

Boxometry ipsy June 2015 Review - tre'StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon

Product: tre'StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon (0.02 oz)
Retail Value: $10.67

I got tricked! When I first opened my glam bag, this was the first item I noticed. I thought the cap fell off, so I dumped out all of the items in search of the cap. Of course, I didn't find it. The lid of this eyeshadow crayon was purposely design to look like the tip. Anyhow, those who get this product will either receive the shade Marimoto Pink Pearl (nude pink shimmer), Venetian Gold (metallic gold), Kona Coffee (chocolate brown) or Aspen Pine (earthy green). I was originally hoping for the pink pearl, but didn't mind getting the gold version in the end. I already own a lot of pink shades, and this gold one is very pretty. It glides on smoothly and distributes well. I also like that it is free of d5, parabens, talc, synthetic fragrances, petro chemicals and also cruelty free.

Boxometry ipsy June 2015 Review - Keratherapy Daily Smoothing Cream

Product: Keratherapy Daily Smoothing Cream (1 oz)
Retail Value: $3.53

This product is a good match for me because I blow dry my hair. You apply it to towel dried hair right before blow drying. It's supposed to help with frizz, seal hair cuticle, and reduce drying time. While it didn't seem to have a significant impact on frizziness, I think it did help reduce the time it took to blow dry. I tried it twice already, and I like it so far.

ProductsRetail Value
Dr. Brandt® Skincare Pores No More® Vacuum Cleaner (0.25 oz) $11.25
J. Cat Beauty Liptitude Hydrating Lip Stain (Full Size) $5.99
Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer (0.25 oz) $8.00
tre'StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon (0.02 oz) $10.67
Keratherapy Daily Smoothing Cream (1 oz) $3.53
Total $39.44

Final Thoughts: I think I ended up liking the products more than when I originally saw them during the sneak peek. I'm not sure what changed, but I feel like there's more items I am interested in using than I thought. Although the Liptitude lip stain color doesn't work well for me, I really like the formula, so I might just try it again. The rest of the products are useful depending on the situation, so I'm enjoying my June Ipsy glam bag. Also, the value is great for a $10 beauty subscription. I do want to mention that I'm liking Ipsy far more than any of the Birchboxes I've received, both in value and products.
