GLOSSYBOX Subscription Box Review - February 2015

February 2015 Glossybox Inside

Since I was busy with launching the site, I didn't open the February GLOSSYBOX box until a few weeks ago. I already know what was in the box, so I was surprised to find completely different items from what I expected. The detail card does not specify the month, but I did see my online account displaying February products for me to review.

After some investigation, I discovered what I received was in fact the October 2014 box! I've read that people were not happy with GLOSSYBOX's customer service, yet I signed up against my better judgement. I decided to contact them anyway, but didn't have high hopes of hearing back. Surprisingly, I got a response two days later. They apologized and provided a tracking number for the February box. After reading all the negative experiences people had, I honestly had no expectation of receiving the correct box. The situation is now resolved, and I am happy to report that they took care of the issue quickly. I hope their improved customer service continues for everyone. This review is for the actual February box.

Glossybox February 2015 Card

The box comes with a card detailing all of the products and tips on how to use them.

Glossybox February 2015 Julep Color Treat in Hartleigh

Product: Julep Color Treat in Hartleigh
Retail Value: $14.00 (Full Size)

I always fall for cutesy and sparkly nail polish with hearts in them. I don't need more nail polishes and barely have time to use them, but for some reason I like getting them anyway. This nail polish produced by Julep is 5-free, vegan, and gluten-free. It also features Juelp's special "Oxygen Technology" that allows 30% more oxygen to permeate the nail bed than other nail polishes.

Glossybox February 2015 Unwash Bio-Cleanser Ritual Yogi Flow Shower Gel

Product: Rituals Cosmetics Foaming Shower Gel Sensation in Yogi Flow
Retail Value: $15.00 (Full Size)

This shower gel gets decent reviews. The scent is mild and not too overpowering. It contains Indian rose and sweet almond oil, but it smells more like rose than almond. The dispenser is very similar to a shaving cream instead of a soap pump.

Product: Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner (2.5 oz)
Retail Value: $6.67

Although the word conditioner is a bit misleading, this Unwash "conditioner" is actually a replacement for both shampoo and conditioner. This shampoo is intended to clean without stripping natural oils, moisture, or compromising color. It is free of harsh sulfates and parabens. I like light fruit-scented smell and excited to try it out soon.

Glossybox February 2015 Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter

Product: Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter in Pink
Retail Value: $14.00 (Full Size)

This is the cutest vintage-inspired lip butter container ever! Not only is it cute, but the lip butter also smells very nice. It helps condition the lips, and also gives it a hint of pink color.

Glossybox February 2015 Scalisi Skincare Cleanser

Product: Scalisi Skincare Cleanser and Exfoliator
Retail Value: $25.00 (Full Size)

At first I was excited to receive this cleanser since it is full-sized with a retail value of $25. Then I saw the comment on Amazon about this product containing polyethylene (plastic microbeads) that's already banned in several states because they are harmful to marine wildlife as well as humans. Coincidentally, I remember my husband had mentioned about the microbeads issue just few months ago. Several big cosmetic companies have already committed to making their products plastic free. In addition, I noticed the second ingredient on the list is sodium laureth sulfate, which is something I'd like to avoid using on my face if possible. Now that I am aware of this information, I will not be using this product.

ProductsRetail Value
Julep Color Treat in Hartleigh (Full Size) $14.00
Rituals Cosmetics Foaming Shower Gel Sensation in Yogi Flow (Full Size) $15.00
Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner (2.5 oz) $6.67
Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter in Pink (Full Size) $14.00
Scalisi Skincare Cleanser and Exfoliator (Full Size) $25.00
Total $74.67

Final Thoughts: There are four full-sized items of the five included, and the retail value is $74.67. Unfortunately, I won’t be using the Scalisi Skincare Cleanser and Exfoliator due to polyethylene, and cannot recommend it. However, I really like the Julep Hartleigh nail polish (which the card printed as Heartleigh by mistake) and the Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter in Pink. These two are my favorite items from this box. Although I won’t be using all of the products, the February box still has good value and I’m glad I discovered the Royal Apothic brand.
