Loot Crate’s January theme is "Rewind". This crate celebrates the geek and gaming icons of the past. Star Wars and Voltron were the first two titles released in the spoiler, and they are definitely appropriate for the theme. Without further ado, let’s check out what’s in the box.

Loot Crate January 2015 Mini Magazine

The box comes with Loot Crate's mini magazine, issue #18, which contains articles and details about the items. As usual, a collectible pin is included.

Loot Crate January 2015 Black Tie Geek

Product: Exclusive Retro Arcade Skinny Tie (Black Tie Geek)
Retail Value: $10.00 (Estimated)

The Black Tie Geek is a new company that hasn't officially launched yet. This retro arcade skinny tie is their very first product, and released exclusively for Loot Crate. From far away, it looks like a simple black and white tie. Upon closer inspection, the little white pixels actually depicts Taito's Space Invaders. I think this is a great design since you can show off your inner geek while still being discreet for certain functions.

Loot Crate January 2015 10-Doh Figure

Product: Exclusive 10-Doh! Figure (Squid Kids Ink)
Retail Value: $20.00 (Estimated)

This is an exclusive 3-inch version of the 7-inch 10-Doh! grey figure from Squid Kids Ink. There are six variants including a super-rare gold one.

Loot Crate January 2015 Star Wars Comic

Product: Exclusive Star Wars Comic (Marvel)
Retail Value: $4.99

For all the Star Wars fan, this is a special variant edition of Star Wars #1 featuring Loot Crate's exclusive cover painted by the acclaimed artist, Gabriele Dell'Otto. It shows Han Solo and Chewbacca mid-battle during the post-A New Hope era. I thought it clever how all those Loot Crates are incorporated into the artwork.

Loot Crate January 2015 Voltron Shirt

Product: Exclusive Voltron Blueprint T-shirt (Flophouse)
Retail Value: $15.00 (Estimated)

This is an exclusive t-shirt made just for Loot Crate subscribers. I personally really like the shirt because the design is awesome but tame, which makes it easy to wear. Since the shirt is not sold anywhere else, I estimated the retail value to be about $15 since used ones are being sold for $10-$20 on eBay.

Loot Crate January 2015 Comic Notebook Cover

Loot Crate January 2015 Comic Notebook Inside

Product: Comic Notebook (Unemployed Philosopher's Guild)
Retail Value: $3.25

The Comic Note Book is a fun little novelty item. Each page is printed with different comic grid layouts, and the last page is a fold out with stencils for speech and thought bubbles.

Loot Crate January 2015 8-Bit Glasses

Loot Crate January 2015 8-Bit Glasses Loot Crate Logo

Exclusive 8-Bit Glasses (Loot Crate Lab)
Retail Value: $5.00 (Estimated)

I believe Loot Crate sent out 8-bit glasses during one of their early boxes, so I can see this pair being included to celebrate "loots of the past".

ProductsRetail Value
Exclusive Retro Arcade Skinny Tie (Black Tie Geek) $10.00
Exclusive 10-Doh! Figure (Squid Kids Ink) $20.00
Exclusive Star Wars Comic (Marvel) $4.99
Exclusive Voltron Blueprint T-shirt (Flophouse) $15.00
Comic Notebook (Unemployed Philosopher's Guild) $3.25
Exclusive 8-Bit Glasses (Loot Crate Lab) $5.00
Total $58.24

Final Thoughts: Loot Crate likes to include a lot of exclusive products in their boxes, and I think that adds value (although it makes calculating retail price a bit difficult). From my estimate, the total value of this box is $58.24. I'm pretty conservative in my calculations, so it may actually be higher due to the exclusive items. Personally, the t-shirt and tie are my favorites this month. I also enjoy collecting comic books, so the Star Wars comic is an automatic win. The 8-bit sunglass is a fun item, but I will not wear it. I work for a sport performance eyewear company and learned too much about the harm these lenses can do to your eyes. With that said, I enjoyed most of the items in the January 2015 Loot Crate box, and a thumbs up for awesome exclusives.
