1Up Box Subscription Box Review & Coupon - April 2015

I've been meaning to sign-up for 1Up Box. When I saw the April "Hero" theme, I decided it was a good time to start my subscription. There are definitely some awesome comic villains, but I'm more of a hero fan (although I dressed up as Poison Ivy this past Halloween). Most of the geeks and gamers subscriptions will release spoilers around the theme, but not the actual products, so there's still that surprise factor when the box arrives. Of course, you'll want to avoid social media sites like Instagram around shipment time if you really want to stay spoiler-free.

The box comes with an insert listing all of the products. It also shows variations of each item, if any. In addition, there's a collectible pin based on the theme.

Product: Funko Pop - Captain America Vinyl Bobble Head Figure
Retail Value: $9.99

Captain America is from the Marvel Universe, who originally appeared in comic books back in 1940. He is a super soldier with an indestructible shield. My husband and I had an idea of doing a Captain America themed first birthday for our son since the party will be held on July 4th. The color scheme and decoration will go well with Independence Day. This cute Funko Pop Captain America bobble head came just in time for our inspiration. If we do proceed with the theme, we will definitely make use of this little guy.

Product: Exclusive Superhero Iron-On Patch
Retail Value: $4.99 (Estimated)

This is an 1Up Box exclusive superhero iron-on patch. It has Mario, Batman, Kirby, Finn, and I can't make out exactly who the last character is (on the bottom left corner). I'm still trying to figure out where to put it - perhaps on my husband's laptop or camera bag!

Product: Spider-Man Air Freshener
Retail Value: $2.69 (Estimated)

I still have my Captain America air freshener from Loot Crate, and now I can add one more to the collection. I can't find this particular product's retail price, but people are selling it for $4.99, which I think is a bit inflated.

Product: Exclusive Superhero Key Cover
Retail Value: $4.99 (Estimated)

The superhero key cover is another exclusive item in this month's box. There are two versions: Superman or Batman. We got the Batman cover, and it's super adorable. It has a little 1Up logo on his outfit.

Product: Legendary Hero Necklace (Legend of Zelda Triforce)
Retail Value: $10.99 (Estimated)

There are three color variations of this necklace: gold, silver or gunmetal. We received the gunmetal-toned version, which I think looks the best. The photo makes it appear more like silver, which is probably due to the lighting. If you google for this necklace, it's available in different materials. I believe this one is made of alloy.

Product: Exclusive "Mushroom-Signal" T-Shirt
Retail Value: $14.99 (Estimated)

This t-shirt is awesome. Mario is dressed up as Batman and the bat signal is replaced by Mushroom. Personally, I think it's pretty creative. Unfortunately, our shirt has some yellow and green color stains. The color inside the box must have rubbed off onto it. It's hard to see it in the photo, but you can see it clearly in person. We'll try to see if it washes off before asking for a replacement. Also, the shirt is made of 65% polyester, and 35% cotton.

Final Thoughts: There are quite a few exclusive items in this box, so the value is estimated based on similar products. This is our first box and we like it so far! The Funko Captain America is adorable, the Batman key cover is useful, and the t-shirt is awesome (still need to wash out the stain!). Overall, this is a great box and looking forward to next month.
