Spring Bonus Goodebox Review - Spring 2015

I got the Spring Bonus Goodebox a while ago, but haven't had a chance to review it until now. The bonus box is usually composed of products from brands that may be included in current or future member subscription boxes. For Spring, they offered 15 items for $25 plus free shipping in the US. This is a one-time purchase, so no subscription is required.

I always fall for mystery or bonus boxes because I really have no idea what I'll be getting. It can be a risk sometimes, but that's part of the fun. This box was so packed I had trouble closing it after it was opened. They didn't even need any packaging material since it was crammed full of products. How exciting! Without further ado, let's take a look at the goodies. Please note that this review is relatively long since I'll be going over quite a few items.

Product: Della Travel Bag
Retail Value: $24.00 (Full Size)

This travel (cosmetic) bag is handmade of traditional batik fabric, and measures 8.5" x 5". It is really lovely and comes from a wonderful company called Della:

Product: Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream SPF 30 (0.17 oz x2)
Retail Value: $7.80

I received the Juice Beauty CC Cream from a couple of subscription boxes, and really like it. It is slightly tinted and evens out my skin tone very well, plus it has SPF 30.

Product: MSC Skin Care + Home Olfactics Collection Scent 003 Aromatherapy Soy Candle (0.5 oz)
Retail Value: $2.38

Scent 003 is described as musky and heady, with precious woods complemented by complex aged patchouli. Although I normally like fresh and citrus notes, this candle actually smells wonderful to me. MSC soy candles are handmade in Brooklyn, NY. The fragrances are phthalate and paraben-free. This little sample container does not specify the amount, so I took an educated guess.

Product: Square Hue Nail Polish
Retail Value: $5.00

This dark shimmery purple nail polish, called Passeig de Gracia, is one of the three Barcelona inspired shades from The Passport Collection. I don't have a lot of purple nail colors, so this is a nice addition to my collection. The price is based on Square Hue's subscription price since they do not sell their nail polishes in retail stores.

Product: Zosimos Botanicals Facial Mask
Retail Value: $5.00

The Zosimos Botanicals Facial Mask in Raspberry N Honey is composed of a few simple ingredients: Honey; Pink French Clay; Moroccan Lava Clay (Rhassoul); Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit. It is a very fine powder so it should mix well and quickly. I love natural facial masks, so I am sure I'll enjoy it. This sampler pack contains enough for two applications.

Product: Vapour Organic Beauty Mesmerise Eye Color (0.03 oz)
Retail Value: $5.45

The color I received is called Flash, which is mushroom taupe according to Vapour's website. It's a light brown/beige color, which is pretty neutral and works out well for me. The sample doesn't specify the amount, so I made a guess based on other sample containers.

Product: MSC Skin Care + Home Olfactics Collection Scent 002 Alcohol-Free Parfum (2 ml)
Retail Value: $2.86

Scent 002 is a floral based fragrance. It is described as earthy, deep and complex. Since I like fresh and citrus notes, this scent is a bit too sweet for me. While I don't like receiving perfume sample vials, I do like that this perfume is alcohol free and composed of simple ingredients. Similar to some of the other sample products, the vial does not show the amount. I looked up perfume vial size in order to determine the amount it can hold to estimate the value.

Product: Josh Rosebrook Deep Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner (1 oz each)
Total Retail Value: $7.50

The Josh Rosebrook shampoo and conditioner duo is composed of all natural and organic ingredients. They are formulated without parabens, sulfates, petro-chemicals, toxins, alcohols, artificial colors, fillers, fragrances or GMOs. Both of them has what can best be described as herbal scent. The bottles does not specify the amount, so I'm estimating about 1 oz each. I love healthy shampoos and conditioners, so I'm happy to discover this brand. However, the only issue with not having a foaming agent is that I can't tell if I’ve spread the shampoo or conditioner evenly. I have long hair, so I needed to use a bit more than usual to "feel" like I covered everything.

Product: Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mineral Mascara
Retail Value: $14.00 (Full Size)

This is a full size mascara from Pacifica. It is infused with coconut and Vitamin B. In addition, it is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without carmine, FD&C color, mineral oil and parabens. The color I received is called Stardust, which is brown. My lashes are black, so the color isn't quite a match. However, I tried it out anyway. With two coats, it does create good length and doesn't clump.

Product: Plantlife Aromatherapy Herbal Soap in Lavender (1 oz)
Retail Value: $1.49

The soap box is marked sample and doesn't specify the size, so I estimated it to be around 1 oz based on other soaps I have at home. I am probably in the minority here, but I am not a huge fan of lavender scent. However, the fragrance is not overpowering so I will use it. I like that the ingredients are natural and organic.

Product: DN-UNIK Age-Defying Day Cream & Night Cream (0.34 oz each)
Total Retail Value: $23.32

The DN-UNIK day cream and night cream are pricey. It's just shy of $60 for 1.69 oz each. The night cream is $2 more than the day one. Both creams are intended to delay the appearance of wrinkles and the visible signs of skin aging, while restoring radiance to the skin. The texture is creamy but smooth, and I love the lightly scented sweet fragrance.

Product: Tatcha Aburatorigami (Japanese Blotting Paper)
Retail Value: $12.00 (Full Size)

I love Tatcha products. They are pricey but works really well for my skin. I am excited Goodebox sent me these blotting papers from Tatcha. These papers are powder-, fragrance-, and pulp-free. You can use it without or without makeup.

Product: Ecojot Pen on Wood Mini Notepad
Retail Value: $4.00 (5.00 CAD)

To be honest, I don't hand write notes as much as I used to in school. I bring my laptop around to meetings at work all the time and barely use a pen. With that said, I love this little 3" x 4" notepad from Ecojot. It's well designed and well made.

Final Thoughts: Phew, that was a lot of products to go through. Although a few items are marked as samples, I still estimated the retail value based on the sample amount. The total retail value is relatively high as a result. Even without the sample items, the full-size products alone is worth more than $25. I will use pretty much everything included in this bonus box, so the value is there for me. I like that there's a good variety of skin care, hair care, makeup, and lifestyle products. I am officially addicted to the seasonal bonus Goodebox!
