Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Box

Gamer Girl Monthly is a brand new subscription service that sends you game related jewelry and accessories each month. This is one of the few subscription boxes geared towards female geeks and gamers, so I was excited about their launch. Each month, the box is curated based on a theme. June marks their first installment, and the theme is "Pixel." Think retro.

Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Detail Card

The box includes a card with a short message about the theme and the selected products.

Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Custom Pouch and Pin

All of the items came packaged inside a custom pouch with a Gamer Girl Monthly pin.

Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Adjustable Pac-Man Ring

Product: Adjustable Pac-Man Ring
Retail Value: $10.00

This is probably my favorite item in the box. I usually prefer silver or rose-gold tones, but I think yellow gold is appropriate for Pac-Man. The design is super cute, and I like that it's adjustable. Just to give you an idea, I have tiny fingers. My wedding ring is about a size 3.8. This ring fits me perfectly without expanding.

Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Space Invaders Necklace

Product: Space Invaders Necklace
Retail Value: $8.44 (Estimated)

This is an adorable Space Invaders necklace in gold-tone. It definitely fits the Pixel theme well. I based the retail value using an etsy listing since I couldn't find it on sale anywhere else.

Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Pixelated Heart Earrings

Product: Pixelated Heart Earrings
Retail Value: $5.00 (Estimated)

This is another product packaged in Fashion Jewelry backing, and I can't find the exact same ones online. The pixelated heart is fitting for the theme and is also representative of the Gamer Girl Monthly logo. The only issue I see is that not everyone has pierced ears. Perhaps there needs to be some customization options.

Boxometry Gamer Girl Monthly June 2015 Review - Pixelated Heart Cookie Cutter

Product: Pixelated Heart Cookie Cutter (Cavid Designs)
Retail Value: $0.20

This 8-bit cookie cutter is made with an in house 3D printer using PLA, a corn starch plastic. I'm not sure why the 2" version is only $0.20 while the cost of other sizes are much more in comparison. If I had time to make cookies, I would definitely make use of this cutter. Maybe I'll makes some next Valentine's Day for hubby and DS.

ProductsRetail Value
Adjustable Pac-Man Ring $10.00
Space Invaders Necklace $8.44
Pixelated Heart Earrings $5.00
Pixelated Heart Cookie Cutter (Cavid Designs) $0.20
Total $23.64

Final Thoughts: Overall, I think this is a decent first box. I like the character selections as they align well with the retro pixel theme. The box included pretty much all types of jewelry: ring, necklace, and earrings. The pixelated heart cookie cutter is a nice touch. However, I think there needs to be some customization options for earrings in case people do not have pierced ears.
